SoHo Custom PC Coaching is a business I created from  scratch almost 2 years ago. I was a computer professional with the government and retired to be with my husband. At the time I was in Network Marketing selling alternative health products....products I still use. Network Marketing was difficult for me. I went to seminar after seminar and sold using a myriad of systems to "be successful". I finally realized that I didn't want to do Network Marketing. I learned a tremendous amount about business and people and motivation but I wanted something different.

Just before I was winding down my NM business I hired a business coach. The premise was to help me with my NM business. I think by hiring the coach is what created the discontent because I came to realize my "passion" did not lie with what I was doing. As I was talking to people about NM my experience with computers was often discussed and the talk usually stayed on computers.

So many people had questions and wanted help. So...duh...I think there is a business here.  And that was the birth of my PCCoaching business. I started out wanting the "coach" people on the processes of their businesses, but has since expanded to include optimization, maintenance, troubleshooting and building PCs. I am still a small concern and the business I get is almost strictly by referrals from a women's group I joined in March 2000.  Keeping up with technology on my own has helped to dictate the speed of my growth. I built my own web site and I am gearing up to do workshops on "streamlining business processes" in the fall. Having worked for someone else all my life starting my own business has been an education. I have learned to create my own structure. This is the key. You can read the books and listen to a gazillion methods of structure...read it all...take it all in and come up with a structure that works for you. There is no absolute best way except the way that helps you to accomplish what you want to do. Set your priorities on how to live your life. My family and friends and my health come before business. Without this foundation I'm not available to my clients. One of the best investments one can make starting out is to get a life coach, success coach or business coach.

I hope this helps....oh one more thing....persistence and hard work. Persistence can get you as far if not farther than talent. What I lack in talent I make up in   determination.
