Have you set internet safety tips with your kids? The Internet can be a dangerous place for kids if you don’t set some ground rules. Here are some ways to keep your children safe online.
1) Set rules with your kids about what they can and can’t do while surfing on the Internet.
2) Kids should NEVER give our personal information like name, address, phone number, or name of their school.
3) Kids should NEVER send a picture of themselves to anyone online.
4) Kids should not chat with strangers or anyone who makes them feel uncomfortable.
5) Set the privacy settings on IM and chat programs so that kids can only talk with approved people.
6) NEVER agree to meet someone you can met online or have them come visit you.
7) If you see or experience anything that makes you uncomfortable or worried, tell mom or dad immediately.
Only go to sites that your parents say is safe.
9) Don’t download any software without asking your mom or dad.
10) If you join a website or sign up for anything you should ask your parents permission first.
With our kids in their tween years, we have found these rules to keep our kids safe and only viewing appropriate material.
