Are you asking for the business? Effective calls to action.
One of the things that amazes me most is when I read someone’s web page, get the the bottom of the page and find they don’t ask for the business. Every page of your website should have a call to action. What action would you like someone to take as a result of reading your web page: buy, call, email, signup, read more….
My favorite thing to do at the bottom of the page is say:
What would you like to do next? Then I offer 3 calls to action at the bottom of the page based on different levels of buying readiness. Buy Now, Find Out More, Sign up for free tips.
And sometimes, offering more than 1 call to action or other places they can navigate is too much. Notice the increasing usage of squeeze pages. And that’s also why popup pages are effective. It offers a simple benefit and then calls you to action - that’s it!
What are some of your favorite examples you have seen of people calling you to action on a website? What make you stand up, take notice, and do something?

Interesting suggestion, Kristie. The world seems to be divided into those who believe you should sell like crazy on every post of your blog and those who believe you should not. I’m on the fence in this respect and have seen success in both approaches. Another consideration is how this policy may impact the ability to use social networking sites since many of these have varying policies on content.
