I personally love the idea. Given that I start my working day between 4am and 5pm, get the kids of to school and then head out for "real" meetings, working in my bath robe is very appealing.

Women who send messages like you received are the ones that give Women in the workforce a bad name. I personally think that we need to relax and have some fun!

Actually, I just got out of the shower and am wearing mine right now!

Some of my most productive time is first thing in the morning before everyone gets up and I'm still wearing my PJ's, matter of fact, some of my most focused, productive time is IN BED with my laptop! I'm buried under paper work, blankets, laptop, sometimes a dog or a daughter sleeping beside me, I'm not connected to the internet to distract me so I get a lot of focused work done. And since I am comfy and happy, I can get up earlier than usual and get to work, or get "locked in" during the evening if I choose to do so and get an hour or two in.

The whole point for me of the symbolism of working in a bathrobe is the flexibility we have, as work at home mom's, that flexibility is everything and makes it all possible.

So I say long live working in a bathrobe! - off to get some clothes on now, just because I can :0)

If a guy can build a whole infomercial and business around "doing business from your kitchen table in your underwear" why can't women have a "work from home in your bathrobe" day. I think "professionalism" has more to do with your attitude than with what you wear. I have dealt with many people through the years wearing business suits whom I would not consider professional. Besides, not having to dress up is one of the perks of working from home. So, until we get those picture phones, I say "go for it." It's a shame people have to criticize others to make themselves feel "superior". If you don't approve - just don't do it! Like my momma always said, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!

I think it is a great idea, sweats, bathrobe, anything is better than having to dress up everyday. The lady who disagreed needs to Lighten Up.

This was a great way to connect other women working from home and make it fun. I am sure many people would love the opportunity to work from home more often and would definately enjoy wearing their bathrobe for part or all of a day now and then. The best part of working from home from me is the FREEDOM to determine my shcedule and my way of doing things. That includes what I choose to wear when I am working from home. Just imagine all the women around the world away from home in a hotel doing work in their bathrobe. It definately beats the nylons and heals and full blown make up and hair do routine everyday:) Relax and enjoy your days at home as you work. After all many people pay thousands of dollars to lounge in a spa or on vacation in their robes. Success is determined by hard work and that ccan definately be done in your bathrobe!

I love this idea! Isn't that one of the luxeries of working from home? Why would it matter what you are wearing as long as you are successful at home?

It's obviously tongue in cheek. I mean, WHO can sit in a terry cloth robe in a chair all day? Your bottom would start to itch. DUH. ;) Or maybe "Lady's Name" wears a silk robe... OHHHHHH.... now I get it.

Off to buy a silk robe.

((hugs)) Kristie. Glad to know you.

There will always be someone out there who must look upon fun promotional events to support working from home based offices in a negative way instead of how it was intended to be viewed upon. I see this no different than "Friday Jean Day" in the corporate world where I used to work as a legal secretary except they hold their special day for no apparent reason (unlike your wonderful reasons Kristie which are to help promote home office work). I think if anything it raises spirits and togetherness amongst us and also increases awareness through the press which is highly important for any of us working from home.

I think it's a great idea! Not a thing unprofessional about it. Being comfortable while working make us more productive workers that's why more companies have changed their dress codes to a more relaxed type of clothing and how much more relaxed can you be than in your bathrobe (at your home office that is)? A happy, comfortable worker is a productive worker!
