Press Releases: Big list of free press release distribution sites
Posted on August 27, 2008 | 6 comments | Filed in UncategorizedDo you write press releases to promote your business? Just like how article submission is a great way to get a lot of backlinks to your site, press releases can do the same for your business. So if you have something newsworthy to say, write it up in a press release. There are a number of free press release distribution sites. In fact, while I was Googling this morning I stumbled across Jennifer Mattern’s pr blog with a big list of free press release distribution sites.

Hi Kristie,
Thanks for the press release distribution sites…
I agree, press releases if done properly will certainly get exposure for your business. Many of the fr*ee sites are indexed quickly by Google and you can get top rankings quite quickly.
Just be sure to follow the guidelines of each site…some will review your release before publishing, so make sure that it is newsworthy. You may not think it is, but if written properly and with a bit of creativity…it may be more newsworthy than you realize.
Also, an effective press release is written differently than an article, so check the guidelines for tips.
To your success,
Marc

Thanks alot for this, Kristie! I was surprised when I saw just how high free press releases were getting indexed on the search engines. I’ve been reviewing a couple different types of software that supposedly automate PR submission but I will keep you posted if they work.
Continued success!
Hello Kristie,
Just wanted to comment that not all free press release sites are worth using. Many of them are not worth the time it takes to submit a release. When I use a free press release distribution site, it needs to fit 4 criteria.
1. It needs to be free
2. It needs to feed their content to Google News at http://news.google.com
3. It needs to have a Google Pagerank greater than 4/10
4. It needs to have fairly high traffic. I use Alexa.com to determine this and select site with rank greater than 200,000
Currently I have a list of 15 sites that fit all 4 criteria. You can view the current list here: http://bignews.biz/blog/?p=6
If you have suggestions for additional sites for me, don’t hesitate to post them to the comments section of the list and I’ll ad them.
Many thanks,
Phil
