Smile: The Ultimate Marketing Tool

The other day I was going to Walmart on a mission to buy new kitchen rugs. On my way in, I noticed the Walmart greeter. Because I was busy, on a mission, just wanted to get this done, I tried to go on by. But this man, he looked me in the eye, he gave me the warmest smile, and he said, “Welcome to your Walmart home.”

Wow! What a greeting! Although I know that Walmart policy is to always have a greeter at the door, I can tell this man really enjoyed his job. And his warm smile and comments made my day. Before you know it, I was smiling too and greeting and chatting with everyone in the store. And in fact, it still brings a smile to my face just thinking about it!

The power of a simple smile is amazing. It can truly change lives.

    t about 10 minutes to the hour I got out of the car to fix something and locked myself out of the car. My home is in New York and it was one of those bitter cold days in January about 10 degrees below temperatures. Several parents came over and tried to help me open the car to no avail. It was so very cold that frostbite was a constant companion. Time came for the children to come through the doors, everyone walked away expressing their condolences. I just stood there in complete disbelief, and on my way to becoming totally numb by the cold. I felt then a light tap on my shoulder, turned around and there stood a very
    petite
    and pretty lady; she invited me to speak to her husband in their car. They offered to take me and my children home, which was out of their way. They then waited for me while I left the boys at grandma and took me back to the school where my car was parked. I have never forgotten this act of kindness from these two lovely people. They were angels in disguise for me on that cold day when no one else offered to help, not any of the parents with whom I exchange greetings everyday.
