5 Cool Ways to Stay Connected to Kids During Business Trips
Posted on May 15, 2006 | 3 comments | Filed in UncategorizedAre you looking for ways to stay connected with kids while you are
1) Write little
2) Make an audio tape of you reading your child’s favorite
3) Take a picture of you and your child and have it laminated. Then they can take the picture of the two of you everywhere. I know a friend who did this and said his daughters would go to bed holding the picture of them and daddy together.
4) Get a web cam and call your children in the evenings. I just saw this tip on Super Nanny! The dad worked Monday thru Friday about 4 hours away from home. So in order to stay emotionally connected to the kids, they started doing a nightly web cam call. The kids got to share those fun things that happened during the day. Dad got to feel more clued in to the kids daily life. It really made a difference in this family.
5) Write a note and send a fax to your kids. Almost every hotel you will stay at will have one. I draw pictures and write fun little notes. The kids feel very important getting a fax coming to them!
Hope that next time you go away to a seminar, that these tips help to let your kids know how very important and loved they are even when mommy (or daddy) is away!

[...] Following the “Healthier Women” post I thought this post over at Kristie T’s blog would be helpful to those women who work full time and don’t always get home early enough to spend quality time with your children before bedtime. [...]
I take pictures with my cell phone camera of places I go, interesting sights (a tiled house; a Coffee Bean fireplace), and people I meet (family and friends; not business contacts!). I send them via MMS to the home e-mail as I go along, so that my kids know what I’m doing during the day. This has really helped them feel in touch with me while I’m away (as proven my the dramatic reduction in the number of times they call me each day).
Aww…that’s really sweet. Thanks for your suggestions.
