Staying postive when your business hits bumps in the road
Today in church they were talking about overcoming hardships. And it came just the right moment. My husband lost his job. And I am looking in the mirror wondering what I am made of. I need to double my income quickly. While it would be easy to nurse my worries, I am trying instead to focus on the positive.
I believe that entrepreneurship is a process of evolution to becoming self actualized (being your best self). For me, that journey started with discovering my purpose and creating business around putting that purpose into practice.
Success doesn’t always come easy. Most of the truly successful people I know have a Cinderella story of some sort. The other day I interviewed Matt Bacak and he said how he was bankrupt and was living in a single room apartment up to his eyeballs in debt. And then he decided to change things. The story ends that Matt now has a 3 million dollar internet business.
In my experience, I’ve certainly had my share of hard times. And here are some life lessons I have picked up along the way.
Hope you find it helpful.
1) Hardship happens. Your work at home business won’t always go smooth as gravy. It’s part of the journey to success. Accept it and don’t dwell in it.
2) Look upwards when times are down. You get more of what you focus on in life. If you keep focusing on what’s wrong, you’ll attract more of that in your life. Keep your chin up. Keep that vision of what DOES matter to you in your big bright future as motivation to keep you going. You need a really big reason “why” to help you get thru the tough times.
Remember the story of the Holocost survivor? He was in the worst place imaginable. But because he chose to look for the good, he was able mentally to survive his unbearable existance. Worry about nothing. Pray about everything. Choose to focus on the good. Rise above your circumstances.
Also, in the movie The Secret, they talk about how whatever you think about most is what you attract into your life. So if you think about your problems all day long, you are attracting more problems.
3) Look for ways to make lemons out of lemonade. Make the best of your situation. What can you learn from your mistake? How can you grow personally from the situation? How can you use what you learned to make things even better? And the ultimate gift, how can you turn your hardship into a mission or service to help others overcome that same challenge?
When have you had tough times in business? What have you learned from it? What good came in the end? Share your stories.
