Taking care of business and working overtime
Posted on March 4, 2007 | | Filed in Uncategorized
Okay, we all have been guilty of working overtime now and then. Lately I’ve been working on a new business venture that has me so excited I really can’t sleep at night. In fact, I was up till 2 am in the morning yesterday working on it! And, I have been bad this whole week and worked past my promised quit time of 4 pm. Also, I was working on my new business stuff all day yesterday (on Saturday). When you LOVE what you do, sometimes it’s hard to want to stop. Can you relate?
I have told me family it’s okay to come and remind me, “Hey mom, it’s family time now. Would you quit working and come spend family time with us?”
Balance is important – and it’s something you constantly have to work at. Have you been guilty of sneaking in extra work time on the weekends? What do you do to stay balanced, quit working, and get back to “family time”.
If you’ll excuse me, I promised my son I’d play a game with him now. *grin*

Yes, Kristie! I too am guilty of taking care of business and working overtime. I recently married in November and Ithink that one of our biggest adjustments is time. My husband is very supportive of my work; however, he thinks that I should cut it off at a certain time and I think I should burn the midnight oil to get it done. Not every night, but when I am working on a project, sometimes it requires me to work late. I work part-time outside of the home, so there are days that I come home and work at night. I try to take it a day at a time and do the best that I can do. Myra
After spending 10 years out of the workforce, and having two children along the way, I found myself needing the income and, of course, insurance. After I was back at work 6 months, I was let go but offered my job back after just one week. My kids begged me not to go back. They told me they would rather sell our house and move than to have me go back to work outside the home. With that support, I founded a new business, http://www.jillsconsultantlist.com. My whole story is on the Jills Bio page but we are all more happy now. Lots of sports, play dates, and I am off now to the orthodonist, for which I did not have to look at a frowning manager in order to book the appointment.
Right now the site is free, but in a week or so there will be a charge to join. If you reference that you found the site from this posting, email me and I will comp your membership even if it is after the fee cut off.
Thanks and good luck to all of you.
