When People Steal and Sell YOUR ebook!

I was just Googling along today on a search though the 21,900 returns for Kristie Tamsevicius (you know, a little vanity search) and I came across something appauling. ..

Someone else is SELLING my ebook I wrote from 10 years ago without my permission.
What the *%~? (insert explicative of your choice) is that about?
That’s outright theft! Charging for something, earning a profit on something that is not even theirs!??

The Ultimate Guide to Ebooks is the first ebook I ever wrote from like 10 years ago.

What gives people the right to think they can just start selling your stuff? I mean the nerve! I emailed them and said to take it down. But what else can you do really?

What would YOU do

Kristie — I am appalled, and I certainly am glad you were able to make them take it down (I see it is not there now).
But, that sure makes me wonder how many other people are stealing material. The worst part is that then customers who pay for it, could have easily gone on to re-sell your ebook, without even knowing they were infringing on your property.
That is a good reminder to keep a constant watch on what’s happening on the net! – congratulations on 21,900 results for your name!!

Hi Kristie – a couple of suggestions: Contact the hosting company that is hosting their site. You can lookup the IP address via their domain name at something like WhoIs or Aric. Then hopefully find clues as to what hosting company owns that block of IP addresses. Let the hosting company know what is going on asap.

Secondly, is the same mentioned WhoIs or Aric, you should be able to find a mailing address. If you have a lawyer friend, just ask him/her to write up a quick cease and desist letter and send it to that address via certified mail.

Email me and let me know what happens!! :)

Update. Thankfully the guy who had my ebook for sale on his site took it down. He said “sorry”. I wonder how much he made in sales with that.

    I’m just glad it’s down. That’s upsetting.

First of all I want to sincerely apologize the the author of that ebook. You see I am the owner of master-resale-rights.com. I felt bad when you told me that someone had actually stolen it from and resold it to us as if it were their own.

This is not how we do business, and as you know the minute you told me it belonged to you I had it permanently removed. I hope this does not leave a bad impression on you or the readers of of this blog.

I my self have many things plagiarized by terrible people on the internet and it can be frustrating.

    Mt sincerest apologize to you.

    Kind Regards,

    Derek
