Why Blog? Aren’t websites enough?
By Kristie Tamsevicius
What is a blog?
A blog is an online journal centering around a specific
theme or topic. Your topic will the areas of expertise around
which you speak, write, and or have products.
What do you blog about?
- point to a current news story or another blog post and
share your insights.
- summarize articles you have written
- talk about an upcoming event
- review a product
- share an “aha” insight you learned
- tell a short story
- answer a question that you are frequently asked about
your subject
- write about current projects
- tell people what future projects you are working on
If I have a website, do I still need a blog?
Blogs and websites are different. Websites are written
in a more “newsworthy” tone. Blogs are a very
personal tone.
Web pages feature longer more in depth information. Blogs
are short and sweet - often a paragraph or two.
Everyone has a website. Next level people have blogs.
Why Blog?
Blogging gets you noticed by the media, your collegues,
and by potential clients.
Because of the frequency of conversation and ability to
comment, it builds relationships with your audience.
Using keywords in your posts will boost your search engine
ranking.
Frequent blog postings will boost your search engine ranking.
It will get traffic to your site that you wouldn’t
have gotten otherwise.
It brings a more serious kind of prospect who is drawn to
find out more about you versus the light hearted surfers
who are looking for free stuff.

Moms: How to Start your
own Blog!
A lot of moms write me asking about how to start
their own blog. Actually, starting your own blog is
much easier than starting a website. You just need
to find the right blogging software, name your blog,
and start making blog posts. Then when you’ll
got a good start on it, promote it to the blog search
engines.
A good friend of mine Lynette Chandler has a super
guide called, The Blogging Starter Pack that totally
walks you by the hand step-by-step to starting your
own blog. Seriously, I wish this was around when I
started my blog.
The Blogging Starter Pack has valuable audio and
video lessons that are updated regularly that show
you how to setup your blog, using blogs as an effective
business tool, and how to drive traffic to your blog.
And you don’t have to be a techie to get this.
Lynette makes it so simple, that your kids could probably
start a blog!
