Known Business Experts Share Secrets of Success at Chicago
Home Business Summit
Gurnee, IL
The number of Americans who work at home or who want
to is skyrocketing. By the end of 2003, more than
25 million of your friends and neighbors will have their
own home businesses, according to research firm International
Data Corporation. Nearly 8,500 new ventures start every
day.
What Fuels the Home-Based Business Explosion? Kristie Rimmele, founder and
president of online support group WebMomz.com, says, People
are hungry for more control over their lives. They long
to spend more time with their families and are saying no
to long commutes, dry cleaning, endless meetings, demanding
bosses, and other stresses of corporate life. Corporate
downsizing, the Internet, and the transition to a service
and information-based global economy all promote the movement
toward working at home.
Who Works from Home? The National Association of Home-Based
Businesses calculates that one in two workers will perform
some work from home by 2010. Working from home allows dads
and moms to quit the 9-to-5 grind and spend more time with
their kids. Home-based businesses offer a new start for
laid-off workers and extra earnings for retirees scrimping
by on fixed incomes. People with disabilities thrive in
home businesses, and women make up one-third of all home
business owners.
Web Site and Seminar Highlight Home Business Opportunities
A routine Internet search on the
words home business brings up eight million
listings many of them for scams and get-rich-quick
schemes. With such a bewildering array of choices, how can
aspiring entrepreneurs find real opportunities with good
profit potential?
So many people struggle with the question of what
to do that we devoted an entire section of WebMomz.com
to valid work-at-home ideas, Tamsevicius says. We
advise our subscribers to steer clear of anything that sounds
too good to be true. The best businesses are based on the
owners unique passions, personality, skills and interests.
WebMomz is also sponsoring
the first annual Success in Home Business Summit
on March 14 and 15. A morning Work at Home Job Expo will
feature genuine career and business prospects, while afternoon
workshops will teach solid business skills.
Nationally renowned business strategists
and Internet marketing gurus will coach entrepreneurs on
how to start and grow their businesses.
The
roster of experts includes Raleigh
Pinskey, author of 101 Ways to Promote Yourself, and
Maria Bailey, author of
Marketing to Moms: Getting Your Share of the Trillion Dollar
Market (2002, Prima). The
seminar takes place at the Radisson Hotel OHare, 6810 North Mannheim Road, Rosemont, Illinois.
Founders Kristie Rimmele, president,
