 Webmomz is excited to announce that the winner for the 2009 Webmomz Business Grant is Tracy Fletcher of A Totally Mobile Massage in Gainsville Florida.
What we really admire about Tracey is her sheer creativity. Tracy had a dream of starting a business that would truly help others and make a difference. When she got her massage license, she asked herself what could help her business to start out. And it was with that dream that she got a small business loan and bought a 38 foot RV and renovated it for her massage business. Tracy thought that if she could drive on location to provide her massage services is would give her the edge to help her succeed. Not only does the big massage-mobile get her noticed, but Tracy says its much less expensive that what she would pay to rent a retail space.
One of the biggest challenges of starting a new business is how to get the word out on a limited shoestring budget. No marketing budget – no problem for Tracy. She bartered a deal with a local sign making company to pay part cash and part massage for magnetic signs for her trailer.
 Networking with other related businesses has also helped grow her client base. Tracy made up brochures that area beauty salons hand out to their customers. And in turn, Tracy recommends their salon services to the massage clients she serves.
Some of Tracy’s clients have come in surprising ways by being in the right place at the right time. Recently Tracy was in line at the bank and noticed that a lady was complaining of a very bad headache who was standing in line. Tracy reached out and said, “Mam, I am a massage therapist, and I bet in 1 min I could relive that headahe for you.” Tracy gave the woman a quick massage while she was waiting in line and in just a couple minutes the woman’s migraine headache was gone. The woman was so thankful she asked for Tracy’s card and said, “I am going to recommend you to all my friends!”
Goodwill has always been a part of Tracy’s business model as well. One way Tracy gives back to the community is in working with battered women and girls with teen pregnancy. She visits local shelters to give free massages to help ease the pain and rebuild the broken hearts of those women. And to help them rebuilt their lives, she encourages them to start their own massage business. Working with them, she helps them apply for financing for massage school and motivates them to see that they can have a brighter future for themselves and their children.
 Being a single mom with 3 kids she raised by herself, Tracy understands the plight of these women. When her kids were young, her husband left her alone and she had to fight to make a better life for her and her children. It brings Tracy great joy to help women heal and to believe in a brighter happier future for themselves.
